Meet me

I would like to dedicate this memory to a beautiful malamute puppy who, unfortunately, was not given the chance to grow into a strong and robust dog. He was with me for exactly one month, but I will never forget him. He was beautiful, playful, very attentive, and sweet – just like most puppies at his age. He passed away on the day he turned three months old…cherry memory small brfr

Many people still ask me why he died. Cherry was chosen from a long-awaited litter by Mr. and Mrs. Seidl of the Shamanrock kennel. He was the son of the borrowed and very successful show dog Ch. Moon Song’s Captain Moon Ray and the equally successful mother, MultiCh. Blessed Love of Montego.

In such a short time, he became a great friend of our malamute girl, Rita. We had planned so many shows, walks, and activities together – everything one dreams of when bringing a malamute puppy home. Unfortunately, he developed hepatitis, even though he was regularly vaccinated. For four days and four nights, we fought for his life.

We spent our days at the veterinary clinic, and at night I held him in my arms at home. It was on a Thursday when he took his last breath in my arms. These are very painful memories of a little life that ended far too soon.

Even so, I remain deeply grateful to the Seidl family for how they handled the entire situation. Although it was not their fault, and they could have suspected poor care on my part, I never heard a single negative word from them. On the contrary, they helped me come to terms with everything and entrusted me with another boy from a different litter – Jessie, Ich. Just Fur Fun Shamanrock.

I would like to say “thank you” to them in this way, because now, as a breeder myself, I am not sure how I would have handled such a situation. It was a cruel but very instructive experience about the relationship between humans and nature, and about how unpredictable life can be. Unfortunately, sometimes the fate of our best friends is just as final as the fate of people…
